Secret Design Studio is a small, boutique building and interior design studio that specialises in retro homes of the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s.
Those who watch Grand Design Australia may have seen the Buderim House demolition/addition (not a renovation) broadcast last week (Series 11, Episode 9 Buderim). It was the episode with the memorable olive green “China Shipping” container pool hanging out the front. ![]()

The host, Anthony Burke, briefly touched on another house as an example of updating a mid-century modern home, but still keeping it in sympathy with the original spirit. I discovered that the Frazer House, designed by architect Geoffrey Twibill, was featured on the front cover of Home Beautiful in June 1961. This home has been carefully renovated by Studio P Architects, who have done an excellent job. No green shipping containers were harmed during the Frazer House renovation.![]()
