It typically has a pale yellow or green colour and fluoresces bright green under ultraviolet (UV) light. The uranium content in these glasses is usually less than 2%, making them relatively safe to handle. The radiation emitted by uranium glass is generally considered very low and not harmful under normal conditions. However, prolonged exposure or ingestion of uranium particles can pose health risks.![]()

The use of uranium in glass declined during and after World War II due to the metal's strategic importance for nuclear weapons and energy.
